farwell to january... HOORAY!

one month down, 11 to go!!! not to sound like a party pooper or anything, but i am SOOO excited to say farewell to the cold and boring month of january. never like it. probably won't ever will. but my love of february makes up for it :) here is the update for the last few weeks.

monday 1/28: today i was officially introduced to the idea of bigfoot for the first time. not that i'd never heard of him before. i'm sure i have. but thanks to my dear friend josh lohner, i really came to understand what the myth, or maybe not a myth, bigfoot is. he's been around for as long as anyone knows. he's been sighted along the coast of california and up to washington state, so that's probably where he resides. he likes women; more women have spotted him than men. oh, and he is also very shy, looks kind of like a giant ape of sorts, and is neither man, nor beast. some kind of combo of the two. i have to say after watching several videos and discussing the possibilities of his existance i've become very fasinated with this interesting creature. who knows...maybe someday i'll go on a hunt for him myself. :)

tuesday 1/29: one of you is going to get a nice laugh when i say this, but i have never used a parking meter. so today i did it. i wanted to run to they gym real quick. the free parking opens at 9 and 9:30 and it was only 8. Not wanting to wait around i just used the metered parking. the only problem: i didn't realize that no matter how many coins you put in, you can only park there for 30 minutes. so knowing me, i just kept sticking coins in until i had wasted a good weeks worth of laundry quarters before i stoped to read the sign next the the meter. ;)

wednesday 1/30: on this very uneventful day i found myself on campus for hours on end despite the fact that i have a hand injury and can't practice right now. thus all my meals were eaten there. that includes my applesauce, and of course i forgot my spoon. so i tried something new by cracking the lid open and licking it out like a little animal would. i also visited vendoland for the first time. vendoland is under the ramp connecting the two parts of the the fine arts building. it has vending machines, chairs and tables from the seventies that are completely falling apart and d.i. probably wouldn't even take that match the rest of the beautiful fine arts furnishings, and a ping pong table. it also has an odor that is like nothing your nostrils have experienced before. neat place...vendoland...

thursday 1/31: i love asian people. so naturally i love origami. but i've never made real origami before. just the little cootie catchers everyone makes in elementary school. you know what i'm talking about.. you write colors and numbers and future careers on the flaps, and then use them to tell the future to each other. that doesn't count as origami though. here is some real origami:
i have to admit it's a lot of fun. i think i might go get some real origami paper and make it my new hobby! :) p.s. that is an elephant...:)

procrastination...

wow. it's about time i updated things on here. i am a big procrastinator, combined with being super busy. that's why i've slacked off. here is a list of the new things i've done since thursday the 17th:

friday january 18th: august rush. i don't care what all the critics said, i thought this was a superb movie. and i loved that music was involved. music is life. simple as that.
saturday january 19th: shopping cart races. tyler is always full of interesting ideas :) here are pictures. as you can see, he won and i lost.

sunday january 20th: Weenis! today tyler and i touched weenises for the first time. ps that is just the name for the wrinkley skin on your elbow....what were you thinking?! ;)

monday january 21st: this was a rather uneventful day. but i still managed to do something new. i always miss the logan canyon exit. every time i drive back up here. without fail. i usually get pretty far down the road before i realize i've missed it, but this time i realized right as i missed it, so i got off on the very next exit. thus in brigham city. long story short i got a very nice tour of brigham city as i worked my way back to the main road that goes up sardine canyon. i've never driven through brigham city....quaint little town...

tuesday january 22nd: today i attended a piano literature lecture on a man by the name of Olivier Messiaen and heard some of his works for the first time. amazing composer. beautiful music... and my love of 20th century piano literature continues on....
wednesday january 23rd: tomorrow cortni and bradley and i have to cha cha in front of our ballroom class... so today cortni, bradley and i had a sweet cha cha dance party in the fine arts building. none of the other music majors quite understand us.
thursday january 24th: pepperjack cheese whiz. bet you didn't even know there's such a thing. well there is, and it's really quite good. considering it's cheese, in a can. but i'm not gonna lie...i rather like some processed cheese with my crackers.

friday january 25th: with a new found motivation in my school work, by 4:30 today all of my classes, homework, and practice were done, and i was ready to do something outside of my apartment and the fine arts building. so charli and i started the night off at enrichment night...eating lots of free pizza and making quilts for babies in africa. the night was still young so we ran home, threw on layers and layers of mis-matched clothes, and ran to wal mart to get some sleds. two hours later, one of which was spent sitting in our ridiculous outfits and reading valentine cards and laughing ourselves sick, we left walmart without the sleds (they were sold out. walmart is not supposed to sell out of things.) but with a bag of black trash bags and our sweet roommate katie who we found in front of us in the checkout line. we then headed up to old main (for the non-aggie readers: that is just a building on a big hill on campus...we were heading for the hill, not the building, incase you were confused.) another long story short, we went sledding down old main in trash bags. it was definitely one of the most entertaining experiences of my life. in the video below, it's very hard to see, but that's me sledding/rolling down old main in a trash bag. believe it or not we were definitely not the only crazys sledding at 11:30pm. a group of weird married people befriended us...naming us "the raisins" (yes, i was called a raisin, a california raisin to be specific, for the first time tonight. it was neat.) and let us use their sled. we packed all three of us onto the little sled and flew down that hill like i've never flown down a hill before. i was in the front. it was absolutely terrifying and we nearly hit a telephone pole at the bottom. there was also a group of guys going down on a nasty old recliner with lots of skiis attached to the bottom. (see picture below) it had to be the coolest thing i've ever seen up to this point in life. and something i definitely plan on trying someday. oh what a night....

saturday january 26th: today was a rather boring day. lots of practice. that's about it. but i did make myself a real dinner for the first time this year. chicken, pasta, and green beans. and it was not only eadible, but delicious. hooray! i'm not a lost cause after all :) and i'm finally caught up. long sigh...

beans, boggle, bradley...and a mink hat?

in the last two days i have done approximately 9 hours of piano practice. thus the reason for not posting my new thing of the day yesterday. so we'll kill two birds with one stone tonight...and hopefully get some sleep!

1/16: believe it or not i have never played the game of boggle in my life. and my dear little bradley took it upon himself to start a new thing in the piano major corridor around noon each day... boggle fest! hooray! he also took it upon himself to make me play on wednesday, january 16th...and i'm hooked:) if you ever wonder what i'm doing while i eat my lunch these days there's your answer...

1/17: i know an awfully nice boy named ray. ray is from indiana but he goes to school up here in logan. he told his mother it's really cold here so she sent him the coolest hat you will ever lay eyes on. ray being the nice boy that he is, let cortni borrow this radical hat. long story short cortni and i ran through campus with a giant fur hat on our heads....i've never worn a hat that giant, or furry in my life. it kept my head very toasty. i also ate one of bradley's infamous burritos for the first time. it was absolutely delicious! the burritos and i go way back, so it was nice to finally taste one.

relaxation to the max.

this evening was very relaxing. i updated my blog...as you can see:) and listened to some sweet tunes. thus my new thing of today was making a playlist for my blog. i also wore stretchy pants just for the heck of it. and listened to "i'm yours" by jason mraz. my new favorite song. mmmm.... i love these kinds of nights...just chillin in the stretchy pants and listening to some sweet tunes...

lettuce wraps and monkies...

1/13 + 1/14= lettuce wraps at aunt kathy's with these crazy bean noodles...not sure if that's the correct name...they were......unique... and monday morning cortni and i found little wooden monkey puzzles in the bookstore for a whoppin' 69 cents so we bought them and put them together and colored them on our favorite delicious couch...

my monkey is a lion monkey. cortni's is a cancer patient. our monkies love each other.

bowling...

if a picture tells a thousand words...here is bowling with tyler and eating charlie's ice cream for the first time...

awww...tyler loves ice cream... :)

yummy yummy yummy i've got food in my tummy...

the title of this blog is dedicated to tyler urrutia, for singing that every time he eats. :) tyler came to visit me this weekend. SO fun. tyler is probably the funniest person you will ever meet, so it's always a good time when he's around. so....the new thing for 1/11 was dinner at center street grill and watching big daddy for the first time. the food was gross, but the movie was funny. :)

sleepy.

i don't even know what they're called, but you know those little eye masks? if you are thinking no look at the picture below. well i've always wanted one. and my desire increased when 1-i watched breakfast at tiffany's and audrey hepburn..the one person i would pick to be if i were anyone other than cailie...was wearing one and 2-with roommates and lights on when i'm sleeping and such. well...my dear little roommates heard me talking about it and being the sweet souls that they are they went and got me one for my 1/2 birthday. so on thursday january 10th i went to bed with my adorable little eye mask for the first time. and of course it fell of in the night. i guess i'm a crazy sleeper.

1/2 birthday partying and pizza.

on wednesday january 9th was my 19 and 1/2 birthday. i always take note of my half birthday, because it only comes once a year, but i've never celebrated it. and seeing how there's a first time for everything, especially this year, i decided to have a party. in other words cortni and i headed to firehouse pizza. we've heard it's delicious...especially the fazookies i think they're called...and we needed desperately to get away from the fine arts building we're trapped in for approximately 12 hours a day. our waiter was super tall, and cute and we were both tempted to ask him for his number...but we are chickens. end of story. of course i ordered hawaiian pizza...only the best kind in the world..and i think cortni ordered some kind of pasta with spinich and lots of other little green things in it....and we sat and talked about europe and every other good thing that would complete a 1/2 birthday. we topped the evening off with a fazookie and some wool socks. both were deliciously perfect and assisted in keeping my poor little body warm in this arctic i'm living in.

ps thanks again cortni for my wool socks. and my roomies for the birthday signs and presents. you guys are sweet. :)

shake your booty... mmm...

on 1/08 i learned to ballroom dance...for the first time :) cortni, bradley, michelle, dallin, and chalyse are all taking a ballroom dance class with me this semester. hooray! we started with the cha cha... minus the creepy old men it is way fun.

bradley you little stud you...... :)

cortni and i also decided to ride the city bus for the first time. we had some books to pick up from the booktable on main street and two hours to kill before our meeting. three hours later, after meeting all kinds of "bus people" you know what i'm talking about...the kids who should have parents with them but don't. the guy who can't find his smokes when it's time to get off and starts freaking out, the crazy old man wearing a scarf, who talks about polar bears...we finally arrived back where we started without ever stopping at the booktable. but man alive was that a bus ride to remember.

monday's tie dye nightmare?....

TIE-DYE!!!! i once had a song dedicated to me called friday's tie-dye nighmare...never even heard the song. i love tie dye. that's all. i've tie-dyed in the past. but never without a professional and never with cortni. so here is how we started the semester last monday....

dude........

so...for the first few days i'm going to have the same day...obviously, because i'm posting a weeks worth of adventures today because i'm finally getting around to making this blog. i'm a full time student; my time is limited:) but i'm determined to keep up on this and have fun for three hundred sixty six days...and beyond! haha that was dorky. here we go!....
my first day was on the seventh. there are lots of days before that, that i did new things such as: latin dancing in borders, nerf gun wars, going to walmart without a bra (don't worry i had a coat on ;).) etc. etc. but my first official day was january 7th 2008.

the adventures began with the new semester starting early monday morning. but since all of my classes are the exact same there wasn't much exciting there. after class was over my friend cortni and i...we are piano majors and live in the fine arts building together...decided to run some errands. thus we went to walmart. long story short my first new thing: 50 cent tattoo from a gumball machine.

after that i did a series of new things: eating yogurt upside down and holding hands with a rubber glove. :)

always an adventure....always. :)

my dear friend cortni crump introduced me to a new idea as the new year began...cortni is fun loving but still values each minute of life, and for this i greatly respect her. she is one of the very few people that i've met in my 19 and a half years of life that i feel truly understands what it means to live life to the fullest. so when she told me that she's doing one thing she's never done before everyday for the next year, i decided to join in. and thus far it's been a blast! i've learned to appreciate simple things that help life slow down. so here is a journal of my adventures. enjoy. and remember that to be simple really is to be great. go eat an otter pop and run through the sprinklers or something. life goes by quick and we have far too much work work and work. and with that stress, anxiety, depression and all those other lovely things that kill us off in the end. enjoy life...live in moment; it is your life.

ps thank you cortni for being you.
